A Warm Day in January- Tyler Hempfling

The trees and shrubbery are empty like a bar after close
A couple lonely stranglers hold fast to the homes
The other empty bar stools seem ready for life

Left with a feeling of abandoned
They sway and dance like a ballerina on crack
As the warm air warms their limbs
Bursting from within the very life that brings the world so much happiness

It's like a whirlwind of life
A breathe of salvation in the night
It's gotten cold I can feel it in my knees
But this warm comforting day
In the middle of January
It's a brilliant visage of hope and peace

Rehabilitating my hope in humanity
I see a beautiful act of humility
And for a brief moment I flash back to the days of my childhood
Where everyday was a vacation

These warm days remind me the way it felt to wake when I was a child
The days remind me that hope lives here.
